Patrick Hyland will take on Peurto Rican southpaw Angel Chacon for the vacant IBF International super featherweight title in Dorchester, Massachusetts on March 14th.
Chacon is coming off 3 UD losses and has a record of 30-8-2 with 15 KOs. His last win came in 2005 against Jamie Orantia.
Judging by his recent outings, the 36 year old should not pose much of a threat for the unbeaten Hyland, but one thing he has in his favour is experience. Chacon has mixed in good company such as Eric Morales, who he fought in 1999 for the WBC super bantamweight title, and Oscar Larios, (the man who beat Wayne McCullough twice), who he took to 12 rounds in 2001.
Another point to note is that Chacon has only been KO'd once, and this was at the hands of the heavy hitter Morales, so although Hyland has stopped 5 of his last 6 opponents, he may have to go for a points victory rather than a quick KO if he is to be victorious.
Eddie Hyland is in action on March 16th on the under card of Andy Lee V Antwun Echols against a yet to be confirmed opponent.
Paul Hyland will face Nikita Lukin on February 27th on the under card of the EBU super bantamweight title bout between Rendall Munroe and Kiko Martinez.
